My Story
Presentation
Bonjour, I am Gemini.H, a French multimedia artist. I grew up in the Norman countryside before internet and social media era, and this childhood made me a very creative child.
I come from a print makers family so I like to say I was born in the middle of paper sheets.
After my Baccalaureate and my BTS (associate degree) in fashion design I trained as a pratician in art therapy.
While I was a student I had the opportunity to travel in a Mohawk community in Kahnawake (Canada), and few years laterI moved to Seoul (South Korea) for 5 years.
These human experience changed me forever.
My work
My work is a subtle combination of different techniques where blends nostalgia, craftmanship, nature and recycling.
Working traditionally and using artisanal gestures as medium it's giving birth to the joy of being in the moment and to pay attention to what's around me.
I create in an analog way to connect all my senses.
It's quite easy for me to switch from a technique to another one and this is the most efficient way to stimulate my creativity.
Which these days allows me to share different body of works which echoes each other.
Inspiration
My inspiration comes without a doubt from the luck I had to grow up in such small village near the sea.
Where I could spend time in the garden, cycling on the small roads, picking berries along the way and observing the change of seasons and all the beauty it brought.
This is what nurrished my curiosity and still does on this day.
I feel artistically stimulate watching at these little daily miracles we lost the habit to pay attention to and would rather call ordinary.
Hobbies
With so much curiosity, the border line between my hobbies and my art practice is almost invisible.
They all seem to complete each other.
I enjoy hiking or just long peaceful walks, gardening, but I also do lots of needle works. I'm a lover of 194o.'s and 1950's fashion and enjoy sewing my own outfits.
Bringing me to the thrift stores can be dangerous as giving a new life to old objects is a second nature for me.
